Service Area & Pricing

I am a teacher by training and calling.  I spent my full-time work life teaching and developing interdisciplinary curricula in high schools and colleges in Maryland.  After moving to Vermont in retirement, I became a 500 hour Kripalu Yoga Teacher.  Being a person in long term recovery myself, I founded, supervised and taught in the Recovery Community Yoga program at the Turning Point Center of Chittenden County to bring the healing power of yoga to others in recovery.

In 2020, I helped my mother die using VSED and became even more deeply committed to supporting people who make the hard decision to die with intention.  I have completed University of Vermont EOL Doula and AADM trainings to become a death doula and I now devote myself to helping clients and their families with either VSED or MAID.

My Story

My clients make the courageous and hard decision to hasten their death rather than suffer the full ravages of their diseases.  They share my passion about a person’s right to make this choice and, if they are out of state, my dismay that they and their loved ones have to leave home and travel to Vermont to find a legal pathway and to get the support they need.

About My Clients

I often help my clients with some or all of the following: provide information about Act 39 and VSED, answer and ask questions to find the right path among multiple end of life options and help keep an awareness of the need for flexibility, find and work with a supportive doctor, discern the right time, work through different strong opinions within the family, help with last items on a to-do list or wish list, guide breathwork, meditation or relaxation, decide what and when to tell friends and family, find a place to stay, arrange for hospice, find music to play and poems to read, find accommodations for the ingestion, make arrangements for the body, and check in with the family after death.  In short, I am there to accompany everyone through the emotional and logistical ups and downs and ins and outs of these difficult and complicated end of life choices.

As a UVM and AADM trained End of Life Doula, I am honored to be entrusted by my clients and their families to do this Wayfinder work. In addition to helping clients in Vermont, or those who come to Vermont from out of state, to use Act 39, I also accompany and support clients, either locally or remotely, who decide to stay at home and hasten their death by Voluntary Stopping Eating and Drinking (VSED).  I have been serving as an Act 39 Wayfinder since April 2024 and providing VSED support since August 2020.

Scope of Service

I serve clients who come to Chittenden County in Northwestern Vermont, where BTV airport is located and serve people who are ready to move forward with MAID. We often have little to no waiting period. We give preference to people who want to come and stay for the entire process of approximately 17 days.  We do not have any accommodations for ingestion that are 100% handicapped accessible, nor can we provide or arrange for delivery of any medical equipment; you must be able to bring everything you need with you.
